Hystory

A Humble Beginning

PMPC's history dates back in 1960 when a young Filipino entrepreneur by the name of Jesus V. del Rosario started business right in the sala of his house in Pasay City. At the start, with a handful workers, the cottage industry-type company began assembling radios and radio phonos under Distributors and manufacturing Corporation(DMC).

In a year's time, DMC's manufacturing department was made a separate company and named Festival Manufacturing Corporation (FMC). It began producing television sets in 1962, using components from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. of Japan(MEI), and started the manufacture of electronic components in 1964. Then in 1965, to signify its image as a manufacturer of high quality products using precision electronics and advanced methods, FMC changed its corporate name to Precision Electronics Corporation(PEC). In the following year, an invitation was extended to MEI to join PEC in a joint venture. And after a constructive negotiation, an official agreement between PEC and MEI was reached, which led to the formal registration of the joint venture operation on September 14, 1967. It thus becomes the first Filipino-Japanese joint venture operation in the electronics appliance industry in the Philippines.
